Information on Windows Phone Tango Leaked
WeLoveWP.hk claims that an unnamed Microsoft official told them that Tango is official. This information was leaked during MSDN seminar in Hong Kong just a few days ago.
A blog based in Hong Kong noted that the Windows Phone Tango is a slimmer version of Windows Phone 7 and it is just as pumped. It will of course carry basic services and features like Bing search and most likely social media integration. The report however failed to give enough specifics about the phone that could make you really excited about it.
Microsoft is yet to confirm the report as of this writing.
A cheaper version of Windows Phone 7 would be advantageous for the company and its partnership with Nokia. Nokia is currently the largest mobile phone manufacturer outside of the United States and it has a desire to power their new line of phones for the US market with Windows Phone 7. Interestingly, Nokia is yet to announce the future of its Symbian and MeeGo OSs (operating systems) on other parts of the world.
For the moment, Nokia keeps on rolling out new phones powered by Belle, the latest version of Symbian OS. Last Wednesday, the company sported Nokia 700, 701, and 600. They described it as the “smallest,” “brightest,” and “loudest” (in the order) to date. Nokia will also be releasing cheap dual SIM phone Nokia 101 and Nokia 100 this quarter.
Belle is of course is a bit limited when you compare it to Windows Phone 7, but recently, Belle increased the number of icons that you can put on your home screen from 3 to 6.
Experts agree that Microsoft will release Tango between Mango and Apollo. Mango is a new Windows Phone that packs in more than 500 new features to its line. It is expected to be released 4th quarter of 2011. Apollo will surely be out next year which means that Tango can be on the market by late 2011 or early 2012.
