At a recent press briefing at the E3 Games expo, Sony have announced its plans for the PlayStation 3 and its PSP handheld for the next 12 months, with a 3D focus on its new range and games.

According to Sony, a recent software update had made all 35 millions PlayStations sold, 3D ready. Also announced at the briefing, were the details on its new motion controller the PlayStation Move, anticipated for release across Europe on September 15^th for £33.

Kazuo Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment chairman was stated as saying “what Avatar did for 3D movies, titles like Killzone 3 will do for games” The main part of the launch was a demo from the upcoming Killzone 3 showing fact action 3D shooting on the big screen, where audience members had to wear 3D glasses to experience the feature.

Sony also announced various new games titles which will take full advantage of the 3D capabilities; including Grand Turismo 5, Crysis 2 and Ghost Recon. Whilst Sony users will have to wear the 3D glasses in the home to experience the 3D, Nintendo have announced that the revamped 3D DS handheld will not.
