Spotify iPhone App for the UK
Apple’s Cupertino spokesman has confirmed that a Spotify iPhone app will be available in the near future to the UK market.
This is exciting news for Spotify fans, who can not currently access their Spotify accounts through their iPhones. Spotify works on a monthly subscription basis so its users will be keen to cross over the use of their accounts to a mobile technology. Streaming music and playing-back temporary playlists when a connection cannot be established.
Spotify is a growing online music store, providing direct competition for Apple’s iTunes. iTunes currently dominates the digital music industry, and this recent development will see Apple incorporate the Spotify brand into its 65,000 strong app library.
There is no confirmation on price or technical information for the app. Spotify’s PC program runs on a £10 monthly fee basis, and uses Ogg Vorbis code at 320kbps, and it is likely that the £10 subscription will be need to use the app. Apple have confirmed that they have been in “in constant communication” with Spotify, and are “working with the developer” to get the app ready soon.
