3 Network launches the Facebook Phone
The mobile phone company “3″ has set their sites on the social networking users just in time for Christmas. For those eager to keep in touch with your friends whilst you are on the move, the new INQ1 (pronounced “ink one”) could at the top of your Christmas list this year.
Although the Apple iPhone has at least one Facebook App the INQ1 has been developed with the social networking site at it heart. Built from the ground up with social sites in mind, the new smartphone integrates phonebook, Facebook, Windows Live Messenger and Skype, making it easy to keep up to date with what your friends are up to, and provide an easy way to get in touch by phone.
Facebook status messages appear in your address book, and you can also get fast access to your friend’s blog entries and other parts of the site.
The spec is quite impressive too :-
- Size: 97 x 47.6 x 14.4 mm
- Weight: 110g
- Battery: 329 hrs (standby) 324 min (talk time)
- Camera: 3.2 megapixels
- Screen: 2.2″ QVGA (high res) / 262K colours
- Colours: silver (black coming soon)
- Memory: internal 50MB / external 4GB
The phone also has a feature-rich web browser (inlcuding Flash-lite) and media player. PC link, Bluetooth and high speed Internet access gives you all the connectivity you will ever need.
If you are willing to sign up to an 18 month contract then the phone is yours for just £15 a month. Included in that tariff is unlimited Facebook and Skype calls, as well as access to Windows Live Messenger and up to 1GB a month of web access. Unlimited texts, emails, and calls to other 3 customers plus 75 minutes of calls to other networks are inlcuded as part of the monthly package.
Compare that with the price of the iPhone (free for £45 a month on an 18 month contract with O2 and £349.99 for a pre-pay version) and suddenly the INQ1 looks a pretty good offer.
The phone is supplied with a 1GB micro-SD card for storage of photos, media, etc and also doubles up as a modem when connected to a laptop.
So, if you simply can’t do without Facebook 24 hours a day – now there’s a phone that will keep you connected!
