Packard Bell Dot Netbook is released
It seems a week can’t go by without another PC manufacturer launching a netbook. This time it is the turn of Packard Bell to enter what is becoming a very popular market.
The 8.9-inch netbook is built around an Atom processor with 160Gb of hard disk space and 1Gb of RAMand and features a full installation of Windows XP. A webcam, Wi-Fi card reader and the option of 3G completes the package. The dot net is due to hit the shops in January and will retail for £299.
A spokesman for Packard Bell explained at the press conference that the company have been working towards producing a netbook aimed less at the business user and more at families and with XP installed, they certainly seem to have done that – it’s the operating system that many are used to and that they can just pick up and use with ease.
You will have to wait until after Christmas to get your hands on the Packard Bell dot netbook but with competitive pricing it might be worth the wait. Other netbooks to consider include the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook, the Acer Aspire One or the Asus 1000
