Samsung F480 gives iPhone a run for its money

Samsung F480 ToccoIf you have been bedazzled by all the hype surronding the Apple 3G iPhone but are sill on the look out for a new phone why not take a look at the new Samsung F480 Tocco.

Follwing on from the successful launch of the new phone, Samsung is promising the release of more high-profile devices this year, and is aiming to sharpen its focus on the business and multimedia market.

The F480 Tocco is a new premium five-megapixel device, which Samsung bosses hope will be competitive in the high-end market.

The Tocco has got a regular menu of icons, but at the tap of one virtual button you can switch to the widgets – a dock of options that can be dragged on to the main screen as you please. Best of all, the Tocco interface is very fast and responsive, making the phone easy to use in most respects.

The slick interface also makes the phone very customisable. You can hide or display everything from the clock and reminder icons to the network’s name-check. Other options include games, the phone’s music player and the FM radio. The Tocco Widgets are cool enough, though it’s a matter of taste whether you will prefer this or the icons on the iPhone. And unlike Apple’s first generation iPhone, the F480 is 3G, with amazing 7.2Mbps speeds. However, there is no Wi-Fi on board the Tocco which sadly lets it down slightly.

How does it look and feel?
The Samsung F480 Tocco fits nicely in your pocket and comfortably fits in the palm of your hand. Its 2.8-inch touch-screen dominates the front fascia and adds to its aesthetic quality, and it can also be customised to suit your tastes.

How easy is to use?
The touch-screen works a treat, although the space key is a little too close to the OK button which might result in some accidental key strokes.

What features are included ?
A 2.8-inch touch-screen, 7.2Mbps HSDPA broadband speed, a five-megapixel camera complete with face detection, smile shutter and image stabilisation help make up the Samsung F480 Tocco’s feature set.

Battery life ?
180 minutes’ talktime and 250 hours’ standby is not great and means regular charges will be needed.

All in all the Samsung F480 is not the perfect touch sensitive phone, but the Tocco definately gives the Apple iPhone a run for its money.

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, don’t forget Insure and Smile offer full cover and guaranteed 48hr repair or replacement with their Samsung Mobile Phone Insurance.
